The Laugavegur is a famous trekking route in South-West Iceland starting from the hot springs area of Landmannalaugar in the highlands. It crosses over multicolored rhyolite mountains and expansive lava fields, passing around numerous hot springs and steaming vents enroute to the glacial valley of Þórsmörk west of the Mýrdalsjökull icecap. Covering 55km it is a very popular trek taking 2-4 days to complete.
