Tectonic drift

The Dalkjall ridge near Lake Myrvatn is one of the few areas where the process of continental drift is so clearly illustrated and can be seen on land. The great rift in Africa is the only other place where this is visable.br/br/This expanding rift is the division between the American and Eurasian continental plates which are drifting apart about 2cm each year. The major part of this rift lies under the Atlantic Ocean.
