Tuolumne Meadow 1
Tuolumne Meadows is a gentle, dome-studded sub-alpine meadowy section of the Tuolumne River, in the eastern section of Yosemite National Park. The meadow vegetation is supported by shallow groundwater and 1,000mm annual precititation, mainly in the form of snow. In spring as soon as the snow melts, it is not uncommon to see large areas of the meadows flooded and practically transformed into a lake.br/br/Yosemite National Park reaches across the western slopes of the Sierra Nevada mountain chain in central California. It is internationally recognized for its spectacular granite cliffs, waterfalls, clear streams and Giant Sequoia groves. Yosemite is one of the largest and least fragmented habitat blocks in the Sierra Nevada, and the park supports a diversity of plants and animals, with almost 95% of the park being designated wilderness.
