Dettifoss is a waterfall in Vatnaj#246;kull National Park in Northeast Iceland, and is reputed to be the most powerful waterfall in Europe.br/br/It is situated on the J#246;kuls#225; #225; Fj#246;llum river, which flows from the Vatnaj#246;kull glacier and collects water from a large area in Northeast Iceland. The falls are 100 metres wide and have a drop of 45 metres down to the J#246;kuls#225;rglj#250;fur canyon. It is the largest waterfall in Europe in terms of volume discharge, having an average water flow of 193 m3/s.
