Sandfly Bay 1
Sandfly Bay is a sandy bay with large dunes, located on the eastern side of the Otago Peninsula only 15 minutes drive from the city of Dunedin. At the northeastern end of the bay there are hides for the public to access to view the Yellow-eyed Penguin with minimal disturbance. The beach is also a popular site for the Hooker's Sea Lion to bask on the sand. br/br/The bay is named for the sand which, given the windy nature of this coast, flies from the tall dunes surrounding the bay.
