Driftwood on the wide sweeping Waikouaiti Beach looking southwards towards Karitane. A whaling station was established here in 1830 by the mouth of the Waikouaiti River at the southern end of the beach.br/br/Located 25 minutes drive south of Dunedin, Waikouaiti is a quiet seaside town on a popular beach regularly used by horses and their trainers, surfers, swimmers of folks just out for a casual stroll.
