Sealers Bay on Codfish Island 4
Sealers Bay is the only sandy beach on the ocean-battered coastline of Codfish Island. There is a fantastic view across a strait to the rugged west coast of Stewart Island. Codfish Island, or Whenua Hou (Maori), is a small island located to the west of Stewart Island/Rakiura in southern New Zealand. It reaches a height of 249Êmetres close to the south coast. Following the eradication of possums and weka, it is a predator-free bird sanctuary and the focus of Kakapo recovery efforts.
