The Tomtit (Petroica macrocephala) or Miromiro (Maori), is a small passerine bird endemic to New Zealand. Across the main islands and offshore islands there are several sub-species showing variation in plumage and size.

Habitat is primarily beech forest, though they may also be found on the edges of clearings in scrub and in plantations of introduced pines. In winter, orchards and suburban gardens may also be inhabited. The common call is a high-pitched “see see see”.

The tomtit has adapted well to the changes made to New Zealand's biodiversity over the last 150 years.
