House Sparrow 1
The House Sparrow (Passer domesticus) is a species of passerine bird, occuring naturally in most of Europe, the Mediterranean region, and much of Asia. It has also arrived in many other parts of the world, making it the most widely distributed wild bird. It is strongly associated with human habitations. House sparrows are small birds, weighing about 30g and measuring 14cm. They have a short, conical bill, like many seed-eaters and are common throughout New Zealand.
