Naseby is a small town in the Maniototo area of Central Otago, New Zealand. An historic gold mining town, it was once a thriving community of 5000 gold miners from 1863-1930 when the population declined significantly. Many relics from the gold mining era can be seen throughout the township and much of the town centre has been preserved with Victorian architecture and historic buildings.br/br/As Naseby experiences very harsh winters, it has become one of New Zealand's principal curling venues and year-round training ground for the national luge team. It boasts the Southern Hemisphere's only ice luge track.
