The Great Bowerbird (Chlamydera nuchalis) is the largest of the bowerbird family. It is a common and conspicuous resident of northern Australia in forest, woodlands and the margins of mangrove swamps.
The male builds the largest bower of all bowerbirds, spending most of the year building, maintaining, improving, defending and displaying from their bowers as only a male with a successful bower can attract mates.
