The Australasian Shoveler (Anas rhynchotis) is a species of dabbling duck of which there are two subspecies; this being the Australian Shoveler which occurs in southwestern and southeastern Australia and Tasmania. They inhabit a wide variety of wetlands, preferring large permanent lakes, swamps or freshwater lagoons.
