The Australasian Darter (Anhinga novaehollandiae) is found in Australia, Indonesia, New Zealand, and Papua New Guinea.

Typical habitat is freshwater or brackish wetlands with fallen trees or logs and vegetated banks; less commonly in sheltered saltwater or estuarine environments.
