The Ranfurly Hotel is an art-deco style building dating back to the mid-1930 sited on the main street in Ranfurly.br/br/Ranfurly is the largest settlement in the Maniototo district of Otago, New Zealand. It lies in dry rough country 430 metres above sea level and is a service town for the local farming community. br/br/The Maniototo experiences large daily and seasonal temperature extremes. Summers and winters are both fierce: temperatures up into the high 30s Celsius in summer, and heavy frosts regularly throughout the winter. The lowest temperature on record in New Zealand at minus 25.6#176;C was recorded at Ranfurly in 1903. The total population of the Maniototo is approximately 1,910 people with Ranfurly as the service centre for the basin.
